University of Tehran’s SoC program, based on Google’s Summer of Code, was held in 2015 for the fourth consecutive year after its establishment in 2012. This program’s main goal is to create an appropriate atmosphere during summers for the students interested in learning and cooperating with big-scale software projects and is mainly aimed at freshmen, trying to introduce them to teamwork and giving them space to use what they have learned through the first year. 8 projects were chosen and worked on during summer, 5 of which were completed successfully.

Because of SoC’s popularity among Computer Engineering students, a similar program called Sandcastle was also hosted by University of Tehran ACM Student Chapter for students of Electrical Engineering.
