University of Tehran ACM ICPC programming contest was held on October 24th. “The Last One ?” team and “NeshesTeam” team achieved first and third place in the contest. These two teams competed among 47 teams from other universities of Iran in ICPC regional contest which was held on 24th November in Sharif university of technology and the teams from University of Tehran could achieve second and third place in the contest and NeshesTeam got the opportunity to attend The 2017 ACM-ICPC World Finals.
“ACM vote “ was one of the SOC projects conducted by a number of freshmen and sophomores with the management of the ACM branch. The project was originally launched at the chapter election in 2016 and was later on expanded for the use of other departments of the university due to its success.
The interest rate of joining ACM’s student chapter is increasing each year and the 2016 chapter’s election indicates it. The most important point of this election was participation of more than 300 people inclusive of Ph.D and M.Sc students demonstrating the importance of future of chapter.
ACM’s student chapter conducted a debate between two sides in accordance to have a more fruitful election and it was lively broadcast on live.ut.ac.ir. Also, the election was held online on vote.ut.ir service for the first time.
Every year the ACM student branch of the University of Tehran holds an event in order to familiarize freshmen with the atmosphere of the university, their fellow students, and the senior student body.
The “XP Game” event is designed as a series of simple challenges in order to introduce the basic concepts of Agile Software Development to the participants.
In the past few years, University of Tehran’s students and staff had difficulty using internet service due to its requirements of running specific software and settings on different devices. For facilitating and integrating this process, ACM’s student chapter and University of Tehran’s Informatics Center developed internet.ut.ac.ir project in 2016 and replaced the former system with Central Authentication System.
The National “Harekat” Festival (NHF) dedicated to the Student Scientific Association (SSA) is organized every year. The main purpose of NHF is to increase the level of partnership, create and explore creative ideas and to enhance energetic life of the students. NHF attempts to be a starting point of a modern movement for organizing scientific activities of the students. NHF is held among all the SSAs in the country. ACM student chapter won the first ranking position and received the prize from minister of Research, Science and the Technology this year.
“F1” scientific publication is the quarterly journal of University of Tehran’s ACM student chapter. This magazine has attracted a lot of students and professors from University of Tehran and also people in the other universities across Iran. The digital edition of this magazine is available at http://acm.ut.ac.ir and the paper edition of F1 is sold in different universities in Iran.
In February 2016, University of Tehran held the “University Publications Festival”. Every publication which was organized and published by a group of university students, could enter this festival. Publications could take part in many different subjects. From the best Cover Image, to the best article title and many other fields. One important thing to mention is that the festival was being held in University of Tehran but many publications from other universities took part in it.
During the festival, different publications won speciefic awards. And one of the most honorable awards in the whole festival was won by F1. F1 was selected as the “Best Engineering Publication” among all the magazines in the festival. The Manager of F1 was “Amirreza Dadfarnia” and the event holders gave him an appreciation because of his effort.
